Combined Worship Service “a Special Encouragement”

In Michigan, First Baptist Church of Oxford, First Baptist Church of Rochester, and First Baptist Church of Lapeer gathered for a combined Sunday evening service in June.

Hosted on the athletic field of the Oxford church, the service involved ministry leaders from each church leading the songs and encouraging the three assembled churches in God’s Word. Those gathered enjoyed singing together, meeting people, and fellowshipping around a cookout.

“This is the second summer in a row that the three churches have gotten together like this, and it’s a special encouragement to meet people and be reminded of how God is working in other communities,” says Lydia Scheps, a member of the Lapeer church.

Tim Brokke, discipleship outreach pastor of the Rochester church, says, “Our members were greatly encouraged by our gathering with these sister churches! Coming together with other churches allows us to embody the unity that Christ desires for His church. From the singing and preaching of the Word to the food and fellowship, this is a highlight of our summer!
