Jerry Smith retired from Faith Baptist Church, Winter Haven, Florida. He had served at the church since 1984, first as associate pastor and then as visitation pastor.
The church thanked Jerry and his wife, Shirley, for their ministry in a retirement celebration March 3.
In that service Pastor David Totman recalled that Jerry often said a person’s “greatest ability is availability.” And “Jerry absolutely modeled” that counsel, David says.
Jerry “offered [his gifts] to God and said, ‘I’m available to be used however You’d like me to be used.'”
