Merilyn Jean Farrell, Pastor’s Wife

Merilyn Jean Farrell, a pastor’s wife, died July 14. She was 95.

She served alongside her husband, Russ, in missions and church ministry.

Russ served for several years as a full-time evangelist and for six years in home missions. He and Merilyn were also pastor and wife at Adelphi Baptist Church, Runnells, Iowa; First Baptist Church, Monroe, Iowa; Knoxville (Iowa) Regular Baptist Church; Heritage Baptist Church, Moberly, Missouri; and First Baptist Church, Prairie City, Iowa.

Russ started two churches, Altoona (Iowa) Regular Baptist Church and Northwest Heights Baptist Church, Wichita, Kansas, and founded Knoxville Regular Baptist School.

Merilyn often served as church secretary, Sunday School teacher, VBS leader, and hostess for visiting speakers and missionaries. She also worked hard to keep the church buildings and the school clean and sharp looking.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Russ, in 2018.

She is survived by her children, Rebekah Farrell and Doug (Lori) Farrell; six grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
