Eldon Pals, a pastor, died February 3, 2023. He was 90.
Eldon grew up on a farm near Meservey, Iowa. At age 19 Eldon and his family attended a tent evangelism outreach event in Belmond, Iowa. At that event his whole family saw their need for a Savior and asked Jesus into their lives.
The next fall Eldon enrolled in Omaha Baptist Bible Institute. While attending there he met Lola Mae Kempton. They married on June 1, 1954.
Eldon graduated from OBBI in 1956. He then pastored Baptist churches in New Hartford, Iowa; La Crosse, Wisconsin; Bloomfield, Iowa; Forest City, Iowa; and Monroe, Iowa.
He was also a board member of Denver Baptist Bible College, the Iowa Association of Regular Baptist Churches Council of 10, and Iowa Regular Baptist Camp and was president of the American Council of Christian Churches.
Eldon loved meeting people, drinking black coffee, reading his Bible, and telling people about Jesus. He led many Bible studies, taught Sunday School, and loved preaching the Word of God.
Eldon was preceded in death by an infant son, Bruce, and his son Bob.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Lola; his children, Becky (Dickey) Simpson, daughter-in-love Dana (Jim) Franzen, Russ (Michelle), and Chellee (Dennis) Hedges; 12 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.
